When considering paint colors and textiles, look outside. Mountain modern colors are earth tones; whites, blacks, greys, browns, and greens. Bronze colors and neutrals with green undertones are particularly interesting and engaging.
Texture is the new pattern…
Opt for less contrast in color and pattern, and more texture. Leather, hide, mohair, wool, alpaca, faux furs, woven jute make for incredible layers of interest. Wallpaper is in, and provides a wonderful opportunity to accent walls with texture. Drapery, specifically textural sheers, are also another unique way to embrace texture outside of throw pillows and upholstery textiles.
Use metal strategically…
Metal details like door and cabinet hardware or light fixtures are an important component of Mountain Modern decor. Utilizing clean lined hardware can push a look more contemporary, where a forged metal takes the look rustic.
